Little Works of ArtIn the “little works of art” – except for a few exceptions, these are much smaller in size – Roger Lips allowed himself much more freedom in the use of different materials as well as various presentation forms. Pictures that didn’t belong specifically to a project, but nevertheless were pleasing were presented as small prints in very different kinds of frames, some of them found at flea markets. Every artist does this: the creation of small things, freed from the burden and the decisions of a large project. And with Lips, too, one recognizes in these small works the fun and enjoyment in the discovered material, the experimenting with framing and with collage. |
The works shown here have all been exhibited, never however together with the pictures, which Lips considered his main work. The images, which we know from the hanging displays of the small works, show a similar principle: a free mixing, not balanced out in the details. In the following – picture sizes are actually different in real life –, the attempt is made to reproduce this kind of arrangement. By clicking on the pictures you can get large-scale reproductions with a bit of further information. The numbers are the numbers in the Catalogue of Artwork. You can scroll back and forth when you are at the large reproductions level. |
