The exposition with physicalness, dance and sex become more explicit and takes on a moralistic connotation. Lips compares the physicalness that is positively felt and experienced in dance with that which he is offered as sex in the homosexual subculture. He takes photos of pictures from porno videos, pictures that he selects from the viewpoint of possible infections. Cold and warm, in tone and also framework – these are contrasted with the dance pictures.

In the his last year, Lips returned again to his photographic re-working techniques. Since 1990 he had almost completely given this up in favor of illustrative, classical B/W photography.

He created an excellent 20-piece series, again heads, faces of the baby boy Noah. The eye sockets remain black. Strangely empty, they remind one of death’s-heads. In everyone one of these slightly out of focus pictures, whose brown-tone reminds one of one’s own childhood pictures, the endangerment and seeming arbitrariness of living human development can be felt.
