Lips’ mother dies in 1990 and he is confronted with death. Not many works are produced at this time. After he has settled the estate and has received his inheritance, he moves into a new and larger atelier. For the first time he begins to photograph people against neutral backgrounds. He looks for strong emotions and intensive physicalness. He is interested in dance, African rituals and Japanese ceremonies. |
The main work at the time is a triptych out of three illuminated display cases. The pictures resulted after a long consideration of the photo of a young man (see SB 018, SB 019, SB 020). Every indication of individuality has been dissolved through form and color. By clicking on the pictures you can get large-scale reproductions with a bit of further information. The numbers are the numbers in the Catalogue of Artwork. |
